Kenneth B. Parlin
I am a financial counselor, financial planner, and investment advisor with over three decades of experience advising individuals and families on a broad range of financial issues. In 2019 I founded Parlin Advisors LLC to deliver highly personalized financial advice to a select number of clients.
Prior to founding Parlin Advisors, I spent much of my career with the JP Morgan Private Bank based in New York. As a Managing Director covering some of the world's wealthiest families, my team advised clients on a wide range of financial matters including trust and estate planning, portfolio construction, investments and single stock hedging. I had previous assignments in Corporate Finance, and spent four years in Belgium with Euroclear, then a subsidiary of JP Morgan.
In addition to JP Morgan, my prior work experience included several years as an advisor on the Merrill Lynch brokerage platform, and eight years as Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Parlin Capital, a $50mm long-short equity hedge fund.
I serve on the Board of the Lake George Association (“LGA”), a premier organization in freshwater protection, and was previously on the Board of Silver Bay YMCA, where I chaired the Business Committee. I created and administered the Mintz Parlin Family Foundation, a private family foundation which later rolled into a Donor Advised Fund.
I grew up in Livingston, NJ and graduated from Livingston High School in 1977. I earned a BA from Hamilton College in 1981 with concentrations in Economics and Religion, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1985 with a concentration in Finance.
I live in Hague and Saratoga Springs, NY with Lauren Parlin, my wife of 43 years. Lauren owns the Uptown, a charming 1890’s building on Hague Brook in downtown Hague. I appreciate that Lauren lets Parlin Advisors lease office space in such a beautiful location. We have three grown children, one foster child and two grandchildren, In addition to time with family, I enjoy, gardening, landscaping, bicycling, open water swimming, back country skiing, and art museums.
